The "Baldrick" Type Ballistic Disc is an aluminium hollow tube open at one end and closed with a shaped copper disc at the other. The device comprises; tube with disc, closure plug with centered hole for detonator wire to be inserted.
It is supplied as an INERT set – operator filled disruption charge: the product is fully inert and unfilled and is supplied for user filling on site with plastic explosive, using a standard explosive packer or wooden dowel (not supplied in kit - available separately).
The device has been proven to have a significant improved performance for disruption and controlled deflagration over older style products, such as XLIEI Point Focal and others.
The “Baldrick” Type Ballistic Disc uses either 2, 4, or 6 ounces of plastic explosive; the correct amount of plastic explosive may be determined by using the label on each unit. The label contains three divisions (2, 4, 6); when placed on an M112 block of C4, it will allow for precise cutting of the desired amount. The correct amount may also be determined by using a 1.25-pound block and dividing it into ten 2-ounce segments.
A typical standoff distance of 6 in (152mm) at 90 degrees from the target is reccommended. A proper attack point/angle can be obtained using either our purpose made stand (available separately), a sandbag
or other local sourced material.
